Latin American Studies (MA)

The Master of Arts in Latin American Studies provides students with the skills and knowledge to understand and analyze the societies of Latin America and the Caribbean—a region of key importance in the age of globalization and mass migration. The program provides an excellent foundation for advanced graduate study in the humanities, social sciences, and law. It is also designed to prepare the growing number of students who seek careers in the foreign service and other government agencies as well as those who will seek employment in non-governmental organizations with an international or cross-cultural orientation or in international business. It also serves as an important qualification for individuals in education and the social services who work with the burgeoning Hispanic population of North Carolina.

Urban Design (MUD)

The Master of Urban Design aims to engage the complex issues faced by contemporary towns and cities, which are being transformed by shifting demographics, global capital, information technology, and environmental sustainability. The MUD program is built on the premise that urban design is a fusion of physical design, policy, and implementation strategies. It mediates the professional disciplines of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, development, and engineering that together shape our urban environment. Thus it constructs collaborations between these specialists and the citizens affected by urban development and redevelopment.
